In animals， steroid hormones play critical roles in many vital physiological processes. Brassinosteroids (BRs) produced by plants have similar structures to the animal steroid hormones and play indispensable roles in plant growth and development1. BRs have now acknowledgedly become a sixth class of plant hormones.
